The Tuileries Tunnel has been closed to motor vehicle traffic since 2016 and is now reserved for pedestrians and cyclists. Until July 2022, it offered them nothing more than a smooth crossing through the center of Paris. On the suggestion of Nicolas Laugero Lasserre, head of Artistik Rezo, and with the support of the City of Paris, this dark passageway was transformed by the rollers and spray cans of ten urban artists. They could not have dreamed of a more beautiful space: 860 meters long!
Romain Froquet was one of those who took part in this adventure. On a 40-meter-long section of wall, he painted murals that reinterpret the Olympic rings. They can be identified by their palette of primary colors and the intertwining curves. The artist's distinctive style sets them apart: lines drawn with meticulous and rhythmic gestures, and a search for balance in the composition. Why is he doing this work on the Olympic rings? The proximity of the Olympic Games, to be held in Paris, provided an opportunity to explore the meaning of this symbol. It reflects the bond between cultures, as well as flows and exchanges. These are values that Romain Froquet shares — they form the foundation of his artistic work. He also perceives these intertwining circles as an analogy for the symbol of infinity.
